SafetyCulture acquired EdApp in 2020 and rebranded it to SC Training in May 2024. On 31 March 2026 the EdApp platform retired entirely, and the data export window closed on 20 April 2026.
Here is the part that matters most, and it comes from SafetyCulture's own migration guidance:
Customers moving to the free SafetyCulture plan could bring their courses across. But their users, groups and completion records did not transfer. Preserving historical training data required upgrading to a paid annual plan.
So organisations that had trained staff on EdApp for years had to pay to keep their own completion history. Completion history is the record auditors ask for.
The EdApp gamification system, Real Rewards and stars, was discontinued with no equivalent in SC Training.
A correction worth making: several comparison articles currently state that SC Training is shutting down. It is not. EdApp, the legacy platform, retired. SC Training is the surviving product, it is actively sold, and it remains a legitimate option.
